Neighbors~
There are some changes that the city of Denver is looking into making and we would like to hear from our Washington Park East neighbors to know your thoughts on these changes, which may impact you.
Accessory dwelling units, or ADUs, are self-contained, smaller living spaces that are an extension of an existing property. An ADU has its own kitchen, bath and sleeping area, but is not considered a separate property that could be sold on its own.
According to Blueprint Denver the recommended policy is to Diversify housing choice through the expansion of accessory dwelling units throughout all residential areas. (Pg 84 Blueprint Denver)
The majority of Washington Park is not zoned for ADUs, however a change in the City’s recommendations allows a resident to request an individual rezoning to allow the construction of an ADU on their property.
Together with Zoning committee a survey has been assembled to understand your position on ADUs. You can take the survey here. You may remain anonymous with your name, but we do ask for your address to ensure you are WPE resident.
