If you were one of the estimated 1,000 people who attended this year’s 15th Annual July 4 celebration in Washington Park, you hopefully enjoyed the Denver Municipal Band’s Brass Quintet, the fiddle/banjo trio, the fire engine, Kona Ice and free ice cream. Washington Park East Neighborhood Association (WPENA) would like to greatly thank The Washington Park Grille, The S. Gaylord St. Merchants Association and Councilman Paul Kashmann for their financial support, without which residents would be charged or there would be no event.
This leads to the topic of future July 4 celebrations, which rely on volunteer involvement to occur. For this event to continue, we need residents to help assume the planning, sponsor gathering and management of this event. We would love this tradition in Washington Park to continue, but without more help it is in jeopardy of ending.
