July 4th Celebration Update from WPENA and WWPNA

July 4th Celebration Update: The long-time, beloved July 4 celebration in Washington Park will not take place this year due to health and financial concerns.  Covid-19 presents too many unknowns to public safety.  We understand that money from local businesses that might otherwise fund sponsorships, must be prioritized for their own rent, payroll and other operating costs.  The celebration of our independence and birth as a nation is an important part of our culture and a way to bring the community together.  Therefore, hopes are high among the leaders and volunteers from the two neighborhood organizations who produce the event, Washington Park East and West Washington Park, that the gathering will go on in 2021.   Washington Park East Neighborhood Association and West Washington Park Neighborhood Association, along with your neighbors, local food vendors, local musicians, and the fire department to have celebrated our nation’s birthday at the Washington Park Boathouse for many years.  Sponsors support the cost of the event, with proceeds being shared equally between WPENA and WWPNA. Thank you to our sponsors and attendees throughout the years, we look forward to celebrating with you again soon!
